Flowing from the ancient Forest of Alyth, and crossing the Cateran Trail, the Alyth Burn has influenced the pattern of settlement along it’s length as evidenced by the hut circles in the upper reaches, through Pictish and early Christian times to the establishment of Alyth as an ancient market town and destination for cattle drovers.
